Dr. Lauren Elder, PhD, ABPP

Dr. Lauren Elder is a clinical psychologist with over 20 years of experience. She is board certified in Clinical Child & Adolescent Psychology and holds licensure in Ohio and California.  She specializes in Autism and ADHD, and focuses much of her work on the intersection of these identities with intellectual disabilities and severe mental illness.

Courtney is passionate about serving the autistic, neurodivergent, and queer communities. As a former educator and paralegal, she brings with her a unique set of experiences that assist her in her many roles as our Practice Manager.

Lauren Elder

Owner and Licensed Psychologist, PhD, ABPP

Dr. Elder is committed to providing neurodiversity affirming and trauma informed care to her clients. Her approach to therapy is flexible, client-centered, and strengths based. Treatment goals can include management of anxiety and depression, unmasking, managing sensory needs, and building skills in self-advocacy. Many of Dr. Elder’s clients are young children struggling with emotional regulation and late-diagnosed and/or high masking autistic adults, including those experiencing autistic burnout. In addition to her work as a provider at Ascent, Dr. Elder works as a consultant to foundations, corporations, and government agencies, delivering trainings on a variety of early intervention and mental health topics.

Jordan "JP" Pollard

Practicum Student, MSW, M.Ed.

P completed his first master’s degree in social work at the University of Pittsburgh, where he was awarded the Edith Baker Fellowship, specializing in integrated health care to bridge the gap between physical health, mental health, and health behavior. Following his master’s program, JP was awarded the Heinz Fellowship, a social justice oriented fellowship that works with students in urban schools in collaboration with teachers, staff, and school leaders to support students in academic, social, and emotional growth. JP later earned a second master’s degree in education at the University of Cincinnati. As a Ph.D student, JP has been awarded the Provost Fellowship and earned the role of Senior Research Assistant in the Health-Education-Justice (HEJ) lab, which focuses on the social determinants of health, seeking to understand and mitigate the consequences of mass incarceration on child and family education and health.

Amy Glubzinski

Practicum Student, LISW-S, M.Ed.

As a licensed independent social worker, Amy has extensive experience working in the pediatric mental health field, including early childhood therapy, day treatment, and crisis counseling. She completed her first master’s degree in social work at the University of Pittsburgh followed by her second master’s degree math in education at the University of Cincinnati. Amy is a licensed independent social worker with a supervisory designation. In addition to her work at Ascent, Amy is a Pediatric Mental Health Urgent Card Therapist at the Children’s Home of Cincinnati and was awarded the 2023 Health Care Hero in the Provider category by the Cincinnati Business Courier.

Kathleen King

Practicum Student, M.Ed.

Kathleen received her master’s in education at the University of Cincinnati, where she served as a Adjunct Professor in the school’s Transition and Access (TAP) program, a four-year educational program for students with intellectual or developmental disabilities. Through her collegiate teaching experience and work as a research assistant, she cultivated her data analysis and scientific writing skills. Kathleen has extensive experience working with children, including the development and implementation of an emotion regulation small group program for students in New Richmond Schools. Kathleen is now dedicated to adopting a neurodiversity affirming framework with which to provide therapy and assessment services to her clients.
