Billing

When is payment due?

Payment is due at the time services are rendered. For therapy, this means that payment is due at each session. For assessment, we require $225 of the total fee at the time of scheduling. The remaining balance is due the day of your first appointment.

Do you offer payment plans?

We can split the second payment into two equal payments for a total of three payments. The first payment is the $225 due at the time of scheduling. The second payment would be due at the first appointment, and the third would be due a month later. If you require a payment plan, please indicate this to our office upon scheduling.

Do you accept insurance?

Our providers would be considered out-of-network with your insurance company. You may wish to contact our insurance provider to determine if you have these types of benefits. If you do, we can offer a superbill to submit with your claim.

What is a superbill?

A superbill is a statement for insurance reinbursement. Insurance companies require this when filing an out-of-network claim. Our office cannot guarantee reimbursement for services, and strongly suggest that you contact your insurance company prior to scheduling services with us using the CPT codes and units below. Please note that we cannot issue a superbill until the assessment process is complete and all payments have been processed.

Assessments

What assessments do you offer?

We offer psychological testing for neurodevelopmental disabilities such as Autism and ADHD for clients of all ages. We also offer comprehensive neuropsychological evaluations. This is a more in-depth form of assessment that  includes cognitive testing to assess for intellectual disabilities, giftedness, learning disabilities, anxiety, mood disorders, and PTSD.

What can I expect from an assessment?

The first appointment is a diagnostic interview lasting 60-90 minutes. What follows is 1-2 appointments that include formal testing measures, with each appointment lasting 120-150 minutes. The number of testing sessions and length of sessions depends on what type of assessment you’re scheduled for and with whom you scheduled. The last appointment is a feedback session, where you will learn the results of your assessment. If the client is a minor, the first and last appointments are parent appointments. All assessments culminate in a written diagnostic report.

How do I know which type of assessment I need?

Therapy

What types of therapy do you offer?

We offer several therapy modalities, all of which are conducted with a neurodiversity affirming, queer affirming, and trauma-informed perspective.

–       Play therapy: we communicate with children through play in order to build emotion regulation skills and work through trauma.  Sessions may include sand tray, arts activities and free play.  The child takes the lead and the therapist follows, embedding therapeutic moments throughout the play.

–       Parent coaching: parenting can be challenging, and many parents are given advice that just doesn’t work for their neurodivergent children.  We help parents understand their children’s strengths and needs, and learn strategies to help meet those needs and help their children learn new skills.  We draw heavily from John Gottman’s Emotion Coaching and Ross Greene’s Collaborative Problem Solving approaches.

–       Individual therapy: we work with individuals to help them better understand themselves.  Common therapy topics include unmasking, managing sensory needs, reducing anxiety, improving mood, adding in supports and accommodations, and building joy.

–       Family therapy: we work with the entire family system, to help everyone better understand and support each other, reduce conflict and improve communication.

How do I know what type of therapy my child/family needs?

We encourage new clients to schedule a consultation session with Dr. Elder to determine a treatment plan. These sessions are billed at her standard rate of $225. If you have any questions, please contact our Practice Manager at [email protected].
